ABOUT
100 TRAVEL INNOVATIONS
We believe that travel can make the world a better place, but it must do so without environmental, economic and social harm. We have traveled beyond the point of only talking about how we could improve our lives and our world.
We must act.
100 Travel Innovations is a transformative resource for those who are ready to take action on environmental, economic and social challenges that we all share. Whether you love to travel or work in the travel industry, this site is for you, providing global innovations that you can experience on a trip and bring to your own community.
Destination Think produces this site with the generous support of destination sponsors and media sponsors. We thank each of them. They understand the importance and urgency of changing how we travel and how we live, and they are places where innovations are already making a difference.
The site began with 100 innovations and continues to grow. As of its launch on September 27, 2024, the collection represents six continents and more than 35 countries. It features contributions from locations as diverse as the streets of Copenhagen, the highland villages of the Cook Islands, the wetlands of South Africa, the peaks of New Zealand, the dark skies of Colorado, the villages of Nepal and the unceded Indigenous lands of Vancouver Island. Innovations are in one of eight categories: biodiversity, climate resilience, cultural preservation, community prosperity, equality, modernization, responsible tourism and job creation.
Destination Think is responsible for the content of this site. The 100 innovations were evaluated and selected by Destination Think's editorial team in collaboration with forward-thinking destination management organizations across the globe. Todd Montgomery, professor at Oregon State University and director of the Sustainable Tourism Lab, advised.
